You are your child's first and best teacher, and there are a ton of rich learning experiences that your child has at home everyday. To support the learning we do at school, here are some suggestions on ways to bridge the learning happening at school with the learning happening outside of school:
- Regularly check the "WEEKLY UPDATES" tab and Spaces to stay updated on what we are learning at school.
- Read with your child everyday (about 20 minutes or the length of one picture book). Take a close look at the pictures, identify letters that they know, make meaning by asking simple questions, make predictions, and notice the different parts of the book.
- Count something everyday at home. It may be counting how many peppers you add to your pasta or counting how many steps it takes to get upstairs in your home. Encourage your child to touch or point to the item as they count to develop one-to-one correspondence.
- Encourage healthy school habits, including bedtime at 7:30 pm every night, carrying their own backpack, cleaning up independently after playing, and saying "please" and "thank you".
